(St. Paul, MN)  --  The Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women is applauding new domestic violence laws that take effect in Minnesota Sunday.  "Stalking" as defined by law now also includes use of the Internet or text messaging.  Witness-tampering becomes a misdemeanor.  The ban on using G-P-S and electronic monitoring to protect victims is lifted and a pilot project is allowed.  Limits on bail are increased for less severe domestic abuse cases and for violating protection orders.  And pets and companion animals can now also be included in orders for protection.
